学生档案

Alejandra Aguilar

I am a rising senior majoring in 国际研究 and minoring in Legal Studies and Spanish. 我在大学的时候, I’ve had the opportunity to study abroad at Harlaxton College, allowing me to adapt to a new country that widens my horizons. Being a part of the Meet-A-Family Program and traveling on weekends to various parts of the United Kingdom and five European countries has helped shape my understanding of cultures and outlook on life. 在我出国之后, I volunteered with Grassroot Projects, which creates care packages containing items; such as diapers, 公式, 汽车安全座椅, 衣服, 鞋子, or school supplies for immigrant children in Indianapolis. As a volunteer over the summer, I used my Spanish-speaking 技能 to complete intake forms that listed the various items children needed and shared the information with other volunteers to package and deliver the items. Apart from volunteering, I did an internship with Mariposa Legal, a nonprofit that provides legal representation to immigrants detained in ICE, organizes various community education initiatives, and advocates for legal representation for individuals with serious mental illnesses in the immigration court. I am currently working as a part-time Communications and Legal Assistant with Mariposa Legal. I assist individuals and their families with the resources and information about immigration legal service providers in their area.
